- Started in the oil & gas industries since 1990 -1998 as a NDT & Welding Inspector with Solus Oceaneering (M). Being exposed to various industries such as power generation, oil & gas, steel structures, shipbuilding ,pipeline installation ,fabrication of top sides & jackets for various platforms for Petronas , Exxon Mobil & Shell.
- In 1999-2002 joined TWI Training & Certification(SEA) as a NDT/Welding Trainer conducting various NDT methods which includes Radiography, Magnetic Particle, Penetrant(Visible & Fluorescent), Ultrasonic , Visual Testing.
- In 2003 obtained ASNT/ACCP/CSWIP Lev 3 from SANDT (School of Applied Non Destructive Testing-Abington,Cambridge-UK.
Appointed as the NDT Training & Examination Manager for TWI-South East Asia region in 2004-2010.Selected as CSWIP examiner for Asia Region in 2005 for Welding & NDT Inspection certification for Lev 1, 2 & 3

Prof. Azhar Mahmud is a retired academic and technical expert with over 50 years of experience in the teaching profession. Throughout his career, he has served in both the private sector and in government and private educational institutions, gaining comprehensive exposure to industrial practices, competency standards, and skills development.
